St Mirren Youth Football Club is rebranding soon!
Over the next few months we will be updating our digital presence. The Scottish Charity Regulator approved our name change earlier this month as: Inchinnan Saints Football Community.
The Club decided on this, over the course of a Special General Meeting in May, which was ratified at our AGM in July.
Nothing much changes until our Teams re-register in January 2027 for our Small sided Teams; and in June 2027 for our competitive Teams. Club colours remain the same – Black, White and Red – the new badge (below) will appear later on.
As you know, the Club have maintained the three natural grass pitches at India Tyres Playing Fields for almost a decade.
We have been working in close partnership with Inchinnan Development Trust for around 6 of those, to secure funding on a regeneration project to bring ‘The Tyres’ into the 21st Century.
The ongoing construction of the Synthetic Turf Pitch with its environmentally friendly infill (the first of it’s kind in the West of Scotland), is nearing completion. However, there will be further developments of, upgraded natural grass pitches, a children’s play park and a network of paths for the wider community to enjoy.
So its onwards and upwards!
Why the change? Well we felt it only fair that we reflect the community we practice in. There is after all more than one Saint connected to the locality – Conval, Inan, Mirin and Mungo – to name a few.
The Club started off as St Mirren Football Club Boy’s Club in 1998 and rebranded as St Mirren Youth Football Club, when our girls pointed out that wasn’t on. So when we became an Scottish FA Quality Mark Partner Club in 2008, we changed it.
The Club have a track record of providing football practice sessions in the local community, with the nursery school, the primary school, in the church hall, in the church grounds, within India of Inchinnan House and on their grounds.
The Club even helped pick up litter in local streets as part of Renfrewshire Council’s regular ‘Team Up to Clean Up’ campaigns.
As said before, nothing much changes. Our colours reflect local geography; the Black Cart, the White Cart, and Red represents the ‘Bloody Myre’ blelow the Teucheen Wood, where the Battle of Renfrew between King of Scots and Lord of the Isles was fought.
The sleeves on our playing kit are of an actual India Tyres tread – have a closer look! Which pays tribute to the manfacturing and industrial heritage of these parts. And our new badge will also reflect this, as well as paying respect to the R34 airship, built and launched from these same ‘playing fields’ more than a Century ago!
As we approach the Centenary of these playing fields being established, we hope with these new developments they will become a Field of Dreams for the 21st Century.
